I have a brand new X. I am trying to assign numbers to the speed dial postions (0-9). I press and hold the number, it asks me if I want to assign a number, I say yes, look it up in my contacts, select it ... then it takes me back to the speed dial list where the spot remains blank.

It doesn't change.

Any idea what's going on here?

Thanks!

When you are in the dialer - hard menu key, select speed dial setup, tap the location, when your contacts open - scroll to the one you want vs typing it out, select your contact and it should then show the contact to the associated location.

Good luck...

I had the same problem. With no help from Verizon or Motorola I finally discovered that if I scrolled to select the contact instead of using the keyboard, the setting worked.
