So I spent 5.00 on this app called Sound Hound. Now what this app does is it "listens" to what is playing on your Droid and just like magic it finds lyrics, videos and other stuff (I think).

I think it's cool. I have a similar app on my iMac called Lyrica but Lyrica doesn't "listen" to the music.

Now I haven't tried this but I imagine if you have Pandora or anything similar it will not only bring up the lyrics, I see it has a "buy" button too. I mean it has to be that way because if you already have the song you shouldn't need to buy it.

Now if you check this app out you may see some negative comments about it asking for location. You can turn that off. Anyway just something I thought was cool that I'd share. There is a free version but I have no idea what that does.

The free version listens, but not sure if it displays lyrics and I think your only allowed so many uses per month on the free version. The paid version also gets rid of ads.

It's better then good. Got into it a little bit more this weekend. I was playing some music on my sound system which is 3 rooms away. A few of my birds were chirping, some making some very body function noises and my wife had a love bird sitting on her shoulder chirping.

I was playing "The Union" by Elton John and Leon Russell. I tapped the little orange listen device and despite the noise every time I tapped it the lyrics for the song came up as a choice, along with video choices and of course opportunity to purchase.

I can't say enough about this app. If you're into music it's an absolute winner.

Soundhound was only able to find 50% of the songs I use it for. Shazam works much better in my opinion.

I used Shazam all the time until they started to tell you that you needed the premium in order to have unlimited ID. Then I found Soundhound at the recommendation on DF, and I love it a lot, although I also use the free edition. I saw yesterday Amazon had Shazam for free, so I installed the premium version at no cost, but still like Soundhound better.
