Im reading that 2.1 cant be rooted and that it can. Can someone tell me, or point me to the right thread that shows me how to root my droid running 2.1? All I want to do is overclock the processor a little to compensate for 2.1 slowing me down a bit. Im trying to keep it simple.

No, the official update of 2.1 has not been rooted yet and if your phone was updated you can not root it. You have to be at 2.0.1 to root, then you can "upgrade" to a rooted version of 2.1 ESE81.

Look for threads on RDLite and flashing/wiping your system back to 2.0.1. It's quite a few steps but is doable. Root the 2.1, install a recovery image (sprecovery or such) and use that to upgrade to the Rooted 2.1. You'll also need an Kernal that support overclocking as Root doesn't give you this ability. So complete system wipe back to 2.0.1 (phone needs to be reactivated/programmed), root, install recovery image, install "rooted" 2.1 image, install overclocking kernal, download/buy SetCPU.

That's sounds a bit too involved. Ill just wait for 2.1 to get rooted and go from there. It would be nice to see an overclock app. Probably wont happen though. Thanks. If you see 2.1 and you remember me, toss me a link if you don't mind.
