I feel like such a noob but I don't know a lot about rooting...

I currently am using bb 0.5 with chevy's lv 800mhz kernal...

It is only lasting me about 10 hours when I'm clocked at 700mhz. This seems low...

Is there any other rom + kernal combo or just another kernal in general that will be better for my battery?

i would try a different kernel, first. each phone reacts differently to different kernels. you can try SlaYHer kernels, P3Droid, jdlfg, etc.

if you can't find a kernel to help, it may be because of the fact that different roms also react differently to each individual phone. just keep trying combos, and you should be able to find one that works - there's plenty out there! and, you're rooted, so why not, right?! ;)

ok one more question... say I use a 7 slot 800mhz kernel... will this interact differently with my phone than say a 7 slot 1.2 kernel or 5 slot 800?

Won't "interact" differently but a "slot" is merely a preset scaling speed. For example: the kernel I'm using has "slots" of 250, 400, 550, 800, 1000, 1100, and 1250.

Each phone reacts differently to the rom, theme, kernel combination. Try several and see what works best on your phone. Just make a backup with SPR or ClockWork and you will be fine.
