what would happen if you tethered from your phone then connected to the connection you created USING YOUR PHONE? it sounds like a really silly idea, and I'm not even sure that it's possible, just seemed like a fun thing to attempt.

Why would you connect to it, it's your own connection which you already have. Also I don't think droid's can connect to adhoc networks.
