I know there are only a few of us out there with the tablet, but I thought I'd ask.

I was intrigued with the 5 free movies that came with the tablet, and purchased another for future viewing. And on the tablet, that's great but I'd like to view them on my TV at home.

I'm having trouble finding a way to get the tablet to either 1) play the movies transmitting through chromcast, or: 2) find a converter so I can put the movie's MNV file on the computer.

Otherwise, why use Sony's toys when Google's Play Movies will do the trick?

    Thanks!

I suppose you've already tried screen mirroring?

My TV is not a "smart TV" and not on ther net work.

I did try that at work where we have a new LED unit and even though the mirroring was easy to get going, it definitely was not a seamless connection.

It shouldn't matter if your TV isn't a smart TV, as that's basically what the Chromecast does is make it "smarter."

Sorry to hear there wasn't a very good connection when you tried at work. I only recently bought my Chromecast and tested it by playing a couple of games while mirroring to the TV and that worked pretty well.

Some of the lag/etc will depend on the network you're using the devices on.

It may be possible to put the movies on a PC and convert them, but I would imagine they probably have some form of copy protection on them. I could be wrong though.

Have you tried using a file explorer to find the movie files on your device? If you can locate them, then you can possible copy them to a PC and try to convert them.
