I was trying to install some custom kernel and then eventually root my phone, however during the process I have soft bricked my phone. It is basically stuck on the bootloader screen.
I tried flashing a number of pixel 2 ( walleye) factory images, ranging from .010 build number to 0.025 build number. However nothing works. I tried erasing all the partitions using fastboot and then flashing all the stock images, nothing seems to work.
I got this phone one week back, and any help would be sincerely appreciated.

you might need to go to the site you got the custom kernel and see what they say.

Well the custom kernel works perfectly fine for other people. I don't think the problem is due to the custom kernel as I have completely wiped my phone and flashed the official stock image. This is really strange, and I have no idea where to go forward from here.

Just an update. I have fixed my phone. The reason was that I was using an older version of fastboot.
Seems like the latest systems have a lot of changes ( like the recovery partition no longer being there etc). and therefore using an older fastboot version can essentially brick your phone
