My time with my first gen Droid is drawing to a close. I upgraded to the Droid X today and it should arrive early next week. I just wanted to give a big shout out to all the Liquid team for their great work and continued effort to improve with each release!

I enjoyed running LFY and LGB very much and wouldn't hesitate to recommend you all to anyone with a Droid.

Yes, I dread the thought of upgrading ...
    unless I score a buy 1 get 1 free...
I'd send 1 to liquid for development ..

May I ask why you'd leave a LGB D1 for an X? With LGB on my D1, I see no reason to leave the device yet.

Why not wait for the Thunderbolt? The X is already outdated.

Let the man enjoy his new phone lol. The thunderbolt is going to be expensive. They are saying $699 off contract and $299 w/ a 2yr.
The DX is a great phone. That big screen does scratch easily though. Don't let the glass fool you. I have many a friend with scratched DX screens.

I guess what I'm getting at is...why switch at all? I know the new hardware coming out is pretty dang sweet. But what can these newer phones do that should entice me to upgrade? My D1 is awesome as is...does everything, plenty fast for now. Adding a Honeycomb tablet to my tech arsenal makes complete sense. But as for a smartphone, I'm not sold on needing an upgrade yet. Educate a brother....

That is why you use the Invisible Shield by Zagg so your screen will not scratch. I have one on my D1 and Ipod Touch.

I agree with you dude.....I love my D1. Normally I can't wait to upgrade, but with all these ROMs and an awesome support community, its easy to hold on to this thing. I was gonna upgrade when the X and the others came out, but I didn't see anything worth switching for. Im excited about the Thunderbolt, but I think I'll even hold out on the it till I get some feedback.

Guys let me tell you, I was checking out my friends X last night, and he has it all jacked, running Liberty and overclocked...it's a BEAST. The way it runs is amazing, so smooth and blazing fast, I don't think it's old news yet!! Totally different from stock. It's like night and day.

Oh trust me I'll be using a screeen protector, wouldn't live without one :)

As far as upgrading; well I was thinking of waiting for the Thunderbolt but the price to upgrade to it even with my new every 2 would be 299.99. Plus with the way brand new phones are there are usually bugs to be worked out that would drive me bonkers.

Plus I've had my eye on the Droid X since it came out, I like the bigger screen and more memory. It may be about 6 months old but it's still one of the top of the line Android phones. Plus I'll definitely be rooted and I think i'm going to run the Liberty rom on it so it should be pretty sick.

My gen. 1 Droid has been good to me overall, and I got it a few months after it came out, but it starting to act alittle flaky on me these days and with all the flashing of roms, testing out for other devs, and what not I may have inadvertently sent it to a somewhat early death.

Either way the devs for Liquid are great and I wouldn't hesistate to recommend this as the best GB rom out there.

Liquid, are you going to ever switch to a new phone and develop for that one instead?

I sure hope he won't. I switched back from my X to the OG droid for these roms.

Personally, I think in about 8 months is when we will start to see the next rom friendly phone. The d1 came out in october of 2009, so peoples 2 year contracts will be up in about september, so whichever the majority of devs pick, thats where Im gonna head
