So I installed SMUpdater 0.0.3 today and when I ran it it told me there was an update available.

So I checked the website and saw 0.0.4. Well, I dled that and installed it on my droid. Now when I run it it just has the text "This application is for the Motorola Droid" at the top...and just sits there. Doesn't do anything.

I have sholes 1.1 installed with sprecovery .992b and the phone is rooted. So...Im not sure what is going on.

I've reset the phone, ive uninstalled, reinstalled....same thing. Anyone have an idea?

I have downloaded the 0.0.4 version and it seems to work OK with my Droid. Do you Droid as the model in Menu -> Settings -> About Phone?

It says "Droid Sholes.info Version" in About. This is using the 1.1 sholes rom. I didn't go with 1.2.

So...this is just odd =\ Wonder if I have to go to a stock rom...then try to do it.

The odd part is that rom I have on my phone is one of the predecessors to the *****in bagel 2.0.2

Same deal here, using Sholes.info ROM 1.2 and SMUpdater 4. There are some folks on alldroid with the same problem. Does anybody have a .tar of the 2.0.2 so we can just install it manually?

Okay I figured out a workaround.

Sholes.info is hosting a tar version of 2.0.2. Download this: http://downloads.sholes.info/finalreleases/sholesmod-2.0.2.rom.tgz

And install it like the ROM's before SMUpdater (take any ROM's off SD card, put this on root, boot holding "x" key, go to "install", then choose the 2.0.2 ROM). After the update, not only am I enjoying full 2.0.2, but SMUpdater works properly now!

    Hope that helps!

This is what Camel said on sholes.info

"Can you please tell me what happens when you do:

    adb shell grep ro.product.model /system/build.prop

SMUpdater is looking in that file to make sure you’re using a Droid. If you’re using some weird ROM that is messing with that, it’ll break SMUpdater. You should contact the developer of the ROM and tell them that they should not mess with those settings. Returning to stock 2.0.1 will allow you to use the updater."

I actually hacked the build.prop to get my bitrate and fps up on my vid camera. SO maybe something else happened as well.

If you change the ro.product.model line in /system/build.prop to just say:

    ro.product.model=Droid

    Then SMUpdater should work...

I can verify that this does work ... obviously since the earlier sholes ROMS actually change this value, they should do something to this check to fix it :D

Well that's cute then. Apparently 1.1 was one of the "weird roms" messing with the build.prop =)

Anyone know of a free app that allows editing of the system folder files? Like astro, but with su permissions? I know there are a few that are paid apps.

    Quick update,

changing the build.prop to show "Droid" under version instead of "droid.sholes.info" worked.

installing teh 2.0.2 rom manually also worked =)
