SMS Notification

I am using Handcent SMS but I cant find we to turn off the notification for the phones SMS, So i am getting 2 notifications....Please tell me I can turn the phone SMS off (and where as I cant find it)

open up the phone's SMS app and before you go into a conversation, hit the menu key, then settings then notifications
