I believe app specific notification icons are found within that applications .apk file and NOT within the framework-res

The SMS notification.png's are in the Mms.apk/res/drawable-hdpi

    Not the framework-res.apk :)

probably going to have to pull it from your /system/app folder through ADB, make your modification and push it back via the same method.

ADB = Android Debug Bridge (i think anyways) it's basically a command prompt/terminal that allows you to edit your android system files (generally protected) from your computer.

Since MMS is a protected app saved in a protected system folder (much like your phone.apk/settings.apk etc) you can't just throw it on your SD card and install it or it will go to the wrong directory (data/app instead of /system/app) and your changes will do nothing.

You can get around this using ADB, or if you're crafty enough, you can create your own update.zip and update the apps via sprecovery or clockwork recovery.

I usually stick to modding framework-res.apk files only so I can't really help further than this without finding references and re-teaching myself first

You can also use terminal commands to push things through an emulator right on your phone-

Look up terminal emulator in the Market

I can also get you an update.zip template that you can use to install themed .apk's via recovery

What do you mean an update.zip template? My test run with the framework worked, kinda. i got the watermark'd battery onto coldfusion. I went back and threw some of the orange theme into there and it says i have a bad installation. Just bad luck or did i do something wrong?

An update.zip is the same thing a theme or ROM is packaged in, it let's you install multiple .apk's at once

How are you getting your framework back in the system ?

If you would like to change the SMS notification pull the Mms.apk from your current theme

Are you using 7zip to open the .apk archives or are you doing it differently ?

I am using winrar. But when I went to theme just the battery, phone sig, and wireless strength. I took out the original from the cold fusion, and put in the orange theme of those and when i go to install it says its a bad installation. I cant figure out what i am doing wrong

You don't have to take out the old icons, the new ones will overwrite the existing files

Are you replacing the entire theme when you make these changes or just the framework-res.apk ?

So you already have the theme loaded on your device, then you make your changes and flash the entire theme again ?

You can use this template for CW recovery, after you have flashed your theme, if you would like to make changes to the framework, take the framework-res.apk, make your changes and then put the framework-res.apk in the framework folder of this zip file and then run it from recovery
