Skype. v. No SMS????

I just bought a DROID bc my company pays for my phone bill. I had a 32G Unlocked iPhone, and I'm really hoping I can learn to like this DROID.

But one of the things that is pissing me off already is I can't send a text from Skype. On my iPhone I could make calls through Skype but I could also send text messages. I really need this feature to work as I send international text everyday, multiple times a day.

Can anyone chime in?

if you can get ahold of a google voice signup pass, its practically the same thing. its free and if you add it to family and friends you can make unlimited calls.

Does this work for international calls as well?

The main thing is I want to be able to send txt internationall via Skype becuase it's only $0.12 a txt instead of about $0.50 through Verizon.

Anyone else have suggestions on how to send text messages through Skype via the DROID.

One thing I can mention is use Handcent SMS and you can set the interface to make it look like your texting from an iPhone. But texting from Skype, if you can't do it, then you can't do it.
