So after owning the Droid 1 since launch day, I've finally decided to root. After reading, and re-reading everything, it seemed like a pretty simple process.

    Droid 1, stock
    FRG22D

Instead of doing the 1 touch easyroot, I decided to go the sbf/rsd lite route to learn more about the phone. Now come the problems.

I've been using the Droid-life link and the MotoCache link as my sources of info:

Another Android 2.2 FRG22D Rooting Method for the Motorola DROID | Droid Life: A Droid Community Blog

    http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-labs/74028-root-droid-1-regardless-os-version.html

    The problem:
-After following everything to the T
-I run RSD Lite, browse file - add, click Start, goes to 100% but never says PASS (like in Motocache's link), Droidlife youtube link says at this point to just close RSD, unplug USB, and restart into recovery.
    -Turn off the phone
-Restart holding down X and Power
-M logo comes up, release Power, still holding X
    - BAM - get hit with the Triangle exclamation point.

If I reboot from here, everything is still normal....

    Things I've tried:
    1. reinstalled Moto drivers, 32 bit, that I got from the droid life link. v4.2.4, before and after installing RSD lite
    2. Retried everything about 4 times.

I'm not sure where the problem is. This is the simplest part of the process.

    Any input?

I would suggest following one link, preferably the one by MotoCache1...when you get your information from multiple sources across different forums, things can become askew

True, but I would also suggest staying with one set of instructions. Are you running your computer as the Administrator? If not, try that.

    GOT IT!

Okay, so the problem was, after SWupdate finished, it automatically rebooted. Before I never held down the D-pad, I just let it reboot like in the Droid Life videos.

This time, holding the D-pad got me to the Complete/PASS in RSD, woohoo.

I just rebooted into recovery, and it worked!

I don't get how the guy's droid in the youtube videos worked, but whatever, I'm stoked.

Theres a note on MC1's post about "catching the boot". If you dont get it, the latest versions of 2.2 will reflash the stock recovery on boot. Its a PITA, but once you get it, you are all set.
