Has anyone installed this item from the Market Place? If so what exactly does it do? I have the Motorola Droid, is it worth installing this?

    Thanks

    Search..... Just a friendly reminder.

The SMUpdater will "automatically" root your phone and install one of the SholesMod versions. "Automatically" means it still needs your input to decide what apps to install.

Do some poking around, there are literally hundreds of threads about this.

Oh yeah man you'll love it! It just came out and I'm surprised you haven't noticed the bajillion threads on this...lol

But what it does is, root your phone, install a custom recovery that allows you to backup your phones system and restore past backups you've made, and finally, install a brand new ROM from the Sholes team at sholes.info

This ROM allows you to overclock your phone to achieve awesome speed and responsiveness, install the smoke glass theme, install apps from the Nexus One as well as the Milestone in Europe, and have multitouch within your browser and picture gallery

Would this let me Tether my Motorola Droid and use my ipod touch with it?

Yep! It comes with an app called Wireless Tether for Root Users, and works almost flawlessly...

Like all the Apps and all the customization I have done right?

You have a choice, start clean, or keep all your data.

Just choose the option to "keep data" and you'll keep all your apps and tweeks..

(i posted this in the hack forums but this seems more on topic)

What would happen regarding sholes after the 2.1 ota (for those who accept it) since sholes is a 2.01 rom? Wouldn't they conflict?

Pretty sure Sholes blocks OTA by default. If not someone post and I'll edit my post so as not to spread any confusion.

If i'm going to do this should I go ahead and do it or wait until sholes has the 2.1 update? I'm guessing that sholes will have a 2.1 update or am i wrong. If they do have the 2.1 update does anyone know when that might happen? I'm really wanting to root my phone.

    Thanks
