I'm trying to install only the kernel from the latest sholes mod (2.0.5) since there are some bugs I haven't been able to get around. I've extracted the boot image and the ti_wlandrv.ko and installed them without issue, but I'm still unable to start my wifi. Any ideas?

Reboot into recovery mode, delete everything from /system/lib/modules and restart normally.

Unfortunately, that did not help. I'm still unable to start wifi.

Any other thoughts? Taz's kernel is very frustrating.

Could people please stop trying to hijack this... I'm really trying to get help. If you have so much love Berzerker, perhaps you could send him a PM with all the nasties you'd like to do... For now, could we keep this thread on how to install the sholes kernel without taking the whole ROM?

Chances are, you have the wrong tiwlan_drv.ko file. Try doing "insmod tiwlan_drv.ko", and if you see "invalid module format" that's how you'll know.

I tried to do that with the 1.1 release, and was told by the sholes team that I was "stupid" and "doing it wrong":

    2.0.1 Sholes.info Edition 1.1 Release! | Sholes

The ROM tgz contains a file called tiwlan_drv.tgz, which contains tiwlan_drv.ko. That is NOT the correct driver at all. Looks like it should be, though, right? The modules are now contained in a squashfs file. There is probably a way to mount that fs and extract the module, but the easiest way is to find somebody that is running the full rom and ask them to copy the module out for you. Alternatively, you can install it yourself, email the file to yourself, then revert to a nandroid backup.

Se7enLC, that was the trick! Thank you very much.

You may now continue obsessing over Berzerker :) :icon_ banana:
