I still get a FC every time I open GM. I followed the instructions given on Sholes.info: Deleted the .apk and rebooted. However, I still do not have the option to uninstall GM when I go to Manage Applications. Can anyone advise me how I can fix this? I first DL'd 2.0.3 a few days ago, and I believe it was pulled shortly thereafter(it has since been re-released). Do I need to DL it again? Any guidance is most appreciated.

I hear that a clean install, that means wiping your data, will also fix it.

    This should fix it.

I had to remove maps.apk and then reinstall from the market and delete maps.apk and then install again from the market to get it working without doing a complete wipe. I didn't want to lose my text messages.

While on that subject, about losing text messages, does anyone know of an app on the market that will back them up on a daily basis?

Update (trevorj): If you are having issues with Maps/Maps related apps FCing, do this: (make sure you are on 2.0.3 when you do this!)

    1. Delete “/system/app/Maps.apk” and “/data/app/com.google.android.maps.apk” (the second one might not exist)
    2. Reboot your phone
    3. Go to Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > com.google.android.maps > Uninstall
    2. Market > Install Google Maps

Yeah, that's what I did previously. I had to wipe THEN do this, and now it's working. I beileve it should say 'uninstall updates', not the whole app. But it's working now. Unfortunately I have to go re-download all my apps. Ugh.

I'm sorry where do I find those files at to delete them?
