I'm curious as to what my cpu is running at when I'm playing music and my screen is off. When I'm using my phone I have it set to 1ghz and when in standby(screen off) I have it at 250mhz. Now when I'm playing music from pandora, lastfm, or just regular music player, is my phone running at 1ghz or 250mhz. The screen is off during playing music. This could have a good effect on battery life if its running at 1ghz that whole time. Anyone know the answer to this?

i think the real question is, when is the droid really in "sleep" mode?

is the phone always in sleep/standby mode when the screen is off, no matter what is actually going on?

I would imagine this would be determined like any other computer, by processor usage. Idle = 0 %. Running a music player is an active task so your processor will be running at full speed. You should turn it down for extended uses for the same reason you should turn it down when using navigation, the phone gets blisteringly hot.
