this is more of a direct question for chevy..
any chance your file that manages memory and defaults the cpu to 550 is causing the issues with setcpu? i havent deleted it yet bc my phone feels ice cold and its zippin around like whoa so i dont want to lose it or screw something up if i move it and try to move it back.

No, that file does not manage setCPU in any way ... but it DOES manage processes. If you get rid of it, you MIGHT find that the phone runs hotter again, simply because more things are running

    ok.

i noticed my setcpu read 42c about an hour ago with the speed updating as usual. the temp didnt change but at least it was different than when it read -40. also, my font was also skewed at the time (couldnt read text in the power off options or notification bar? weird) in case this information helps you identify the problem. did a reboot, my font is back to normal and setcpu says -40 again. wonder why the font is doing that tho

Have you flashed a new kernel (with the fix) yet? I also was seeing a constant 42, but that was expected since it was broken in the kernel.

Download Astro from the Market (the free file manager), go into preferences, and check the box "Enable Browser Download" and you should be able to do it with your phone.
