Wahhhh! It's not working for meeee!!!

I've gone through it several times... nothing works! I just get the error message "Setup could not finish - Unable to open connection to server"

I followed the above instructions exactly

Then I tried putting in exactly the same info that my outlook express acct has on my computer (smtp.charter.net instead of mobile.charter.net) but I suppose the port number is probably different though.

I tried doing IMAP, like the one responder suggested... nothing works!!!

WHYYYYYY!!! I thought maybe I'd try calling Charter and asking them for help...

this worked on my phone

but charter says thay are changing the incomming server from pop.charter.net to mail.charter.net

the following is from Charter's site.

You will need the following information to allow your Smartphone to connect to mobile.charter.net.
Username : [email protected]
Make sure you enter @charter.net after your username or you will be unable to login.
Password: The password you use to login to your e-mail account
SSL : This setting should be on for both SMTP and IMAP
SMTP: mobile.charter.net
  • Port 587
  • Note: If you cannot specify a port on your device - try mobile.charter.net:587
IMAP: mobile.charter.net
  • Port 993
  • Note: If you cannot specify a port on your device - try mobile.charter.net:993
If applicable: a login will be required when sending and receiving mail.

So am I the only one getting certificate errors when trying to setup IMAP for charter on my phone?

It is the Incredible with Android 2.2.

Weird...when I set Charter up on my X, I used these settings

pop.charter.net as the POP
smtp.charter.net as the SMTP
Port 25 as the outgoing port.

Has worked flawlessly so far...:)

Ummm, I guess I spoke too soon...flawlessly was not the right word. I could receive e-mail, but sending it out was not working...until I changed the SMTP from "smtp.charter.net" to "mobile.charter.net"...as was posted earlier in this thread...:)
