Wondering if there's a .apk or anything out there that would enable the droid to do the smooth homescreen panning like in sense UI. thanks.

what i really want is sense ui. but to my knowledge, there is nothings that 'smooths' the panning. is that what you want? however, 2.1 might make it more smooth

Trust me I've googled this. The expresso link leads to an ebay page where the instructions on how to port it over should be. And I'm actually using the hero theme right now. Have a link to where I could actually download the expresso sense rom for my droid as well as a guide on how to do it? Guess that's what I'm really looking for then.

Ah, sorry then, guess you'll have to wait a bit longer, I'm sure the guys at AllDroid will get it sooner or later. Or, if we're REALLY lucky maybe the 2.1 interface will address enough of the issues.

What do you mean "smooth panning" Smoothness is a matter of how well the OS runs on the phone. It has nothing to do with HTC. You'll have to explain it a bit better.

I mean if you've used sense UI when you pan screens it uses the blurred snappy pre rendered animation.

There IS a senseUI ROM floating around out there for the Droid, however, at this point it's really buggy and doesn't support the battery; so the device needs to be plugged in for it to even run. Still, it does show that it is possible.

If you've ever taken a look at the Droid Eris, you'll notice that when swiping across homescreens, the transition is smooth as butter. Whereas, on the Droid, the transition is jerky. It's a little dissatisfying when I'm trying to show off the Droid and it chokes on menu screens...

Agreed. Sense UI is definitely smoother. My wife got a Droid Eris when I got my moto Droid. That was the first thing I noticed (although it was hard to miss the superior screen of the moto Droid)
