Seeing as "the Cone melted" who has the Hot! GoLauncher set-up? (on Maxx or Razr)

I'm not 100% sure how it's done, but there is a way to opt-out of the ads served up by Airpush. I think we need to get used to airpush, as it's very dev friendly and it does present a viable alternative to intrusive in-app ads. Without things like airpush and in-app ads, we wouldn't be able to have free apps at all, at least not free apps with any quality. The thing about Airpush is developers get paid, and it costs them absolutely nothing to implement. 100% of their earnings go to them. Here's a link to an interesting interview with the Airpush developers:

Follow-up Interview with Airpush - Developers and Android Users Both Win

I suspect that the same people who complain about Airpush also complain about rich media advertising within the app (it's pretty annoying in the free version of Angry Birds, and negatively affects framerate). Well, the advertising has to go SOMEWHERE.

How is that new temple run game? A lot of reviews talk about how it's laggy, is it smooth on the maxx?

I don't own a Maxx, I own a Bionic. And it seems butter smooth on my device. It could only be better on the Maxx, given the 200MHz speed bump. Of course, I haven't gotten too far into it, so maybe it gets laggy as you get into it more.

I started a thread with this as the topic because the article and your post made me re-think the whole notion of these ads.

I was using the GO launcher and installed all of the features it asked me to. I loved it, but I uninstalled it on 6/11, as I was led to believe that ICS was coming out the next day. I'll see if I still need it after ICS comes out, when it ever does.

Thanks guys for the input. Apps are great but I refuse to use anything that could jack up my phone. Nothing is worth that. What do you mean FoxKat by "buggered up"? I don't want to find out the hard way, and since ICS is close, I MIGHT consider removing GO altogether and just returning to the stock launcher. Thanks for the info!

I agree. Nothing is worth messing up the device, I just haven't seen any negative effects on the Four(4) phones running it in my HH.
Phones are snappy, battery life is unaffected.
If anyone is aware of problems though I certainly would want to know.
Afterall, customizing is for the most part ONE of the reasons to get a Droid over other non-customizable smart phones (name not mentioned)

I like Go Launcher though because of the widgets, especially the one where you can toggle everything: wifi, 4G, flashlight, auto-rotate, brightness, vibrate, ringer, etc. All in one column. If there is any widget like that on the market with that much customization, I'll dump GO.

Honestly, This "GoStuff" is so addictive vast and amazing - for those who have been patiently awaiting the arrival of ICS .....I'd stay away from the "Go".

Seriously, on my old phone I didn't just have the launcher and locker but also GO SMS, Contacts, pretty much everything. Love the themes, and the customization you can do with the lock screen. Quick and easy.
