I used to be able to search from the home screen by simply entering text or touching the search button, but now I have to touch the text field in the search widget. Has this happened to anyone else? Is there an easy fix?

    Thanks

You may have knowingly or unknowingly made the search button default for some other app. If you did and you can identify which one, you can clear the default from app management

I thought the only quick launch keys available were "search + a-z" or "search + 0-9". I was referring to the search button in the lower right corner below the screen.

The hard search button, right? Another app may have hijacked it, that's what I'm saying.

Or you may have deleted the Google Search app. The search key stopped working for me after I did that.
