What is mounting the SD card. I read when rooting I should not mount the SD card. Does that mean I should pull the card out? What is mounting or not mounting the SD card.

Sent from my DROID X2 using DroidForums

Mounting is a general term for making a storage device accessible to an operating system.

Generally on Android forums mounting by itself refers to mounting the SD card to a PC. Android can't access the SD card if it is mounted to your PC.

So when I have my phone connected to my pc, and the SD card is listed as an external storage device, it is then mounted to my pc? When the phone is not connected to the pc, the SD card is then mounted to my phone?
