i know stupid question ( better safe than sorry ) i instaled darkslide ROM to my droid x , can i remove my sd card and put a different one in safely?

Generally speaking, it is OK. All ROM is not stored in SD.

Assuming your not using apps2sd it should be ok. Just be sure to unmount the current sd card before you do(in settings)
