Well after almost 2 years of faithful service my Droid finally bit the dust today. Was getting out of my car and had it sitting in my lap and forgot about it. Went to get out and it slid off my lap and landed face down on hard concrete. No physical damage was done to the phone but now the screen is really dark and very hard to see. Was able to hold at a good angle and get to my brightness settings but to no avail. Its done...

Called VZW customer service and they let me early upgrade. I will now be the proud new owner of a Droid 2 Global! Im really gonna miss this Rom and all fo you guys! RIP OG DROID you will not be forgotten!:motdroidvert:

Two years? Did you get some sort of special early-addition Droid or something? Because it's only 15 months old.

it must be nice to get rid of it, its just ashame it couldn't have made it a few more months for a newer release of an android phone.

It does say "almost 2 years" ... but let's not stray from the issue here!

I feel for you lose! I would be completely lost with being able to tweak/mod my D1 ...

    Sent from my Droid

Actually 15 months is equal to about 100 in phone years. That sucker was old!

Early upgrade to a Droid 2 Global...you should have dropped it in about 3 months! And I know how you feel. I'm on my 4th Droid. First it was the power button. I set the next Droid in a glass of water while I was driving and I didn't even notice (the music kept playing throughout it's submersion, though). The next one was defective and now I'm on number 4. Just counting down the days until July 21!

Yeah I said almost 2 years lol I was "rounding up" I did get it the day the it came out and the one that bit the dust was actually a warranty replacement for a keyboard issue. But anyways. The D2G they sent me was a huge pile of crap.. unresponsive screen, froze on me twice, and the w key on the physical keyboard didnt work. So I took it to the store and traded it for a Droid X. so far so good on the X already got it rooted and bootstrapped running Libert Rom 1.5 :) I do miss my OG though. Im gonna see if I can get it fixed cheap and keep it around.

To the guy that had water damage with music still playing. Mine was also water damaged but i let it sit for a day with the battery and everything out and it still worked like a champ! the screen drop was the straw that broke the camels back though. :(

    That's when I get my upgrade. I can't wait for those dual-cores!
