when I try to save a ZIP file in my gmail app I only get the "preview" button then it opens up Astro and tells me "file type not found"

in the Astro setting menu I have "enable browser downloads" checked, but I get a pop up telling me to disable the downloader before I view attachments in Gmail....

hrmmmm how I do I disable the downloader :(

    This is RIDICULOUS!

I can preview an mp3 attachment and listen to the whole song, but I can't save it?
Did this OS have a design team consisting of people who have never used a computer before?
Why would this NOT be an obvious need?

I went through this similar problem on another thread and Matt3w helped solve my downloading and view problem by suggesting the K-9 email app. It was an easy install and I was able to view and save my attachments with k-9 while my gmail account only said "preview". Go figure.

By saving my large .mp3 to an archive I then had a preview option so I could play it... but I still couldn't save it.

I had to browse through my browser to my inbox gmail to download it from there.

ok, I installed K-9 but now it won't play my .m4a music file because it has no associations.... even though I can play it just fine with meridian player and the music player.

I cleared defaults in all the music players and picked meridian as default hoping to reset the associations but no dice.. K-9 still won't play after downloading or give me an option to save.

Sign into your Gmail account from your phone's browser. Then click on the attachment and it will download. I recommend Linda's File Manager for moving files which is free from the Market.

I just created a bookmark to GMail on the web, and added it to the homepage. It automatically gives it a cool G icon, and I called the bookmark Gmail Web. If I need to download something, I'll use that instead. Web client works pretty good. But I agree, they should fix the client.

Free app called 'attachemail" is what i use.... simply open it, browse to the file you want to send and it interfaces with gmail..... I've sent up to 18mb files. "haven't tried bigger"

It may take a few minutes for a file that big on wifi.. be patient.

wow.. what a joke we cannot do this without a total hack method.

in the end, I just mounted it as USB and added the mp3.
