Samsung just ousted their mobile CEO, JK Shin and replaced him with DJ Koh, who ran Samsung's Tizen Mobile OS and Samsung Pay projects. Shin is not being fired, but is basically being demoted. He will still hold the title of co-CEO of Samsung Electronics.

It was probably inevitable considering how poorly Shin executed the Galaxy S6 rollout. Shin was already on thin ice for the poor results of the Galaxy S5. This year, Shin misread demand for the Galaxy S6 Edge and conversely overinflated the manufacturing of the Galaxy S6 "vanilla." This caused the Electronics arm to take enough of a profit hit for it to announce an earnings loss for the entire year.

Interestingly, Shin wasn't the only Samsung CEO to get bumped down. Samsung's head of TVs and home appliances, BK Yoon, is also being moved to the "co-CEO of Samsung Electronics" position so the company can focus on "long-term strategy".

It seems like CEOs are expected to be able to tell the future in South Korea. A least these guys aren't getting kicked to the curb.

All about performance. Perform or get out. As much as this may seem harsh we are talking about billions of dollars and I am sure Samsung studied how HTC was sitting king back during the EVO days.
Plus I get a feel like Samsung is really wanting to push its Tizen OS mainstream.
