That video above shows off Tizen on the Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 series of smartwatches. Give it a good watch if you own the OG Galaxy Gear series smartwatch, because that's exactly what you will soon see on your device. Samsung is now pushing out an update to the Galaxy Gear which will change its Android OS to their Tizen OS as seen on the Galaxy Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo.

Besides the obvious differences in the Operating Systems, this also brings some additional functionality to the older device, including: improved performance and battery life, customizable shortcuts for tap input, voice commands in the camera, and more. You can even use it as a standalone music player in which you can store music on the watch itself.

For those who don't want to wait for the OTA, you can manually grab the update from Kies. Be warned, this update will completely wipe out any data on your device, so keep that in mind ahead of time.
