Exactly! There is zero chance that it ships without it though. With LTE the dominant 4g standard they have no choice. Nobody will buy another 3g iphone unless they literally run around all day saying bahhh bahhhhh.

Wasn't the majority of iPhone 4 users that thought they had a 4G device?

Especially after the phantom 4G update. They thought Apple was so awesome they could put in an LTE radio via a software update. I had to convince quite a few otherwise.

    YEP!

This image is the sole property of Apple iSheep Inc, any from of distribution for selling purposes could result in a lawsuit in the court of law. Trust us. Ask Samsung.

Every time I think of Samsung even possibly delaying or banning the iphone 5, I think of this scene, specifically at the 40 second mark.

HSPA+ isn't 4G, but it is pretty damn fast. My S3 on AT&Ts HSPA network is pretty damn fast. I have LTE near by and the speeds are pretty comparable. I usually get 12-14Mb up and down on HSPA+ and about 16-18Mb on LTE.

my boss argued with me about that.

I wager many will think the iPhone 5 stands for 5G.

"Look, I get SUPER DUPER fast speeds, more than my 4G iPhone!!"

    Word to ya mother.

The big thing will be if this is actually hardware patents involved. That would prevent Apple from shipping the phones as is with plans to enable LTE through firmware updates and would be most lovely.

I just don't see a ban on the IPhone in the US, especially at the hands of a foreign competitor, under any scenario. It would have to be a grossly egregious violation.

I also think this true, sadly. But with Sammy winning cases in more technologically advanced countries, I hope the US courts wake up.

yes this would be completely different than the stuff that sammy has to change on the offending phones because hardware can't be updated after it has been shipped (obviously). If these do turn out to be hardware patents then I could very easily see a ban, at least until the hardware changes or (more likely) that Samsung comes up with a huge price tag to allow Apple to use them.

Apple will then go back to the EDGE network, and will subsequently convince its userbase that in fact their phones are so fast that their minds simply cannot keep up with it.

just read an article on Yahoo that says Crapple has asked the courts to add 4 additional products to the list of banned products. One of them is the S3. Those dirty cotton rock-suckers!

The problem is that if Samsung gets an injunction against Apple, then you will see a lot of pressure from Congress to have the ITC injunction thrown out. The politicians will look at it as a South Korean company going after an American company and will start playing the patriotism card.

This is why Congress is proposing to change the patent laws so that "industry standard" patents cannot be used against American companies and the patent holders would be essentially forced to sign license agreements that would allow American companies to use those patents.
