Using the home key to exit is not a good habit. That will leave whatever she was doing not only open but also running and hogging memory. Using the back key will leave it open for a short period and then the OS (Linux) will shut it down itself. She doesn't have a task killer or anti-virus installed right?

I'm not sure which one she uses but probably a lil bit of both

Ok, shot in the dark: go to Settings > Applications > Manage Applications and browse the apps, checking the amount of MBs each are using. If any seem abnormally large, clear the data.
If that's not the case, a trip to Verizon is probably the next step.

Well I we went to VZW and they are sending us a replacement phone under the warranty,this was deff not a normal problem.
