S3 and Sprint, worth it?

My wifes employer will pay for Sprint service and she can buy a S3 for $99 with no termination fee if she cancels.
We have a Sprint tower a half mile from home and I would think they have good coverage in Boston.
My questions are:
1 - Can it ever be ported to Verizon, just curious?
2 - Does it have a GSM radio and can it be used out of the country?

Any other recommendatios would be appreciated.
