So say we already updated, I'm assuming that the root won't work. Is there any way to revert back to from 2.3?

I tried a factory reset but still had 2.3.3. A "factory reset" must keep whatever Android version is installed at the time.
I think it will take a 2.2 RUU, and I haven't been able to find that.
