Hello, does anyone know if RSDLite or any of those other motorola flashing programs work with the Droid? I notice that if you hold down volume down and camera during boot, it goes to the Motorola programming screen. If it does work for RSDLite, is there any images? This would be great for unbricking phones, and allow for easier development (if one were to screw up, they could just flash the vanilla image back). Also, can be used as an alternate rooting approach (I think it allows unsigned images).

Am I missing something, or why wouldn't you just use Nandroid?

We've already got a nandroid recovery system which allows for loading unsigned images, and backing up/restoring images. I remember someone working on a hacked bootloader, but haven't seen any updates in that area lately. Try it out. It does everything you need and more. ADB shell in recovery mode (with root), nandroid backups/restore, mounting partitions in recovery mode, installing roms, plus more. Thank SirPsycho for this.

There is currently no way to do this.

Nandroid is kind of unrelated. If you somehow botched your system and recovery then this would allow you to repair your phone. An additional safety buffer.

I have used it successfully with the roms at this link: motorola_milestone:sbf [And Developers]

I you get something wrong, you can always flash to another sbf or your original rom. Frankly i dont see why the nandroid method is so popular when its so much more technically difficult.
