I've had my phone rooted for ages now, but now im trying to help my friend root his. When running RSD Lite, i get the error

Failed flashing progress. Failed flashing progress. (0x7100);phone connected

Ive looked up everything i can on the error, and this is what the error log looks like

    21:19:49, December 09, 2010
    Line: 865
ERROR: \\?\c:\mc1.sbf contains an invalid path.
    File: X:\test_dev_usb\flash\code\flashdll\PST_FP_FlashFileIO.cpp

    21:19:49, December 09, 2010
    Line: 542
ERROR: The superfile specified does not exist
    File: X:\test_dev_usb\flash\code\flashdll\FlashHdlr.cpp
    Device ID: 0

And yes i have the right drivers and im running as an admin, etc...

Notice the odd character at the end of MC1.sbf? That's the issue right there. Not sure how you fix it, but I remember some people have had good luck merely deleting the error log.

Now that's interesting. I'm seeing a weird character in your post but when I try to copy/paste it it goes away.

I _think_ (thought MC1 said so as well) the 0x7100 error was a USB port error. Either try a different USB port, a different USB cord or of course what the furman posted last.

    good luck

tried on 4 different usb ports, on two computers, and no luck.

but in an ironic turn of events, less than 20 minutes after my last failed attempt at rsd lite, he dropped it and broke the screen, and has to return it to Verizon tomorrow...

Thank god for RSD Lite sucking
