I remember, buried somewhere, in some battery thread (tried searching, but there are literally millions of them) that there is a command to run in terminal that will show me apps/processes that are running in the background. I have kept an eye on running processes in settings, and there is nothing abnormal in there (except Music 3.0, btw if anyone has a way to keep this from starting itself that'd be awesome too.).

Anyway, the reason I want to do this is because all of the sudden my battery life has plummeted. I used to get through the day (15-16 hrs) with about 40% battery left. Yesterday, and most notably today, I have barely made it through the day... and only used my phone to send about 10 texts... and that was it! other than that it was sitting there with the screen off. It just died 3 seconds ago, after about 13 hours, but it has been sitting at 5 for a couple hours now (went from 20 to 5 in about 1.5 hr). The SetCPU 'time in state' says that it was clocked at 125 MHz 57% of the time.... So, either my battery is near end of life, or there is something in the background chewing on the battery... any help would be appreciated! (using SS 5.4.1 btw)

I'm going to charge tonight, wipe batt stats and cache in the AM, and see how that goes. but id like to get a look at whats going on behind the scenes in phone before replacing the battery. tia :)

Go into the Terminal and type "mtop" without the quotes. I think that's the command you're looking for. That will show you if you have a rouge app running your system all crazy.

Uh.. I cant be certain, but I don't think Android OS is supposed to be that high... there might be something hogging your battery. I think the regular percentage for Android OS is 5% or 3%. I don't know. That's what I get.

Thats what I was kinda thinking too.

mtop, while i wasnt sure exactly what I was looking for, didnt really look like anything was wrong. Nothing in the 'CPU %' column ever said more 2%. Is there something else I should be looking at when I run mtop?

i believe on that battery screen you can click all the stuff listed there, so maybe click Android OS and see if it gives you anymore info about what's using up so much? I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure everything there is clickable.

Did you recently install Patch 1? I did that and it took my battery from lasting a couple days (when not doing anything) to lasting 1/2 day (when not doing anything). I just restored back to before I installed the patch and battery life is back to where it was.

Well, This morning I Wiped cache and battery stats (multiple times each, rebooting into recovery between). I have used my phone, just about the same amount as I did yesterday (no more than 10 texts, and 5 mins on phone calls) and, whereas yesterday in 15 hours my phone was completely dead, today after 13 hours I am still at 90%!!!! So I guess thats all I needed to do dancedroid

Reboot your phone and tell me if it's still at 90%.
