    Hi all,

I'm currently using a Motorola Droid (First Gen) until my contract is up. I received this Droid from a friend, who rooted it using Superuser v2.3.2.3.

Whats going on is, I keep getting these notifications for a System Update. It is a 3.4MB update, and when I go to do the update, the phone reboots, and goes into a program called Android system recovery. Patched by SirPsychoS (0.99.3b)

    I then see the following:

    Finding update package...
    Opening update package...
    Verifying update package...
    E:update.zip install blocked
    Installation aborted.

No matter what I do, I can't do this update, because I get this every single time.

Is there a way around this block I'm seeing here?

The options I have as follows...

    reboot system now
    wipe data/factory reset
    wipe cache partition
    mount options
    backup/restore
    install

I choose the install option, but NOTHING works there. Only thing I can really do is reboot and wait until this notification comes up again (usually in about a week or so).

    Any ideas?

    Thanks!

While I'm at it, is there any way to boot into this SPRecovery menu so I can figure out how to do a couple things?

I'm at a major loss with this whole root thing here... and honestly, I could care less about it.

Well it is trying to have you do the OTA update to upgrade to the latest version, but the custom recovery is blocking it. You could download one of the pre-rooted stock images, I don't know if anyone has a similarly set up update patch (the patch will put the stock recovery on which doesn't let you do anything).

Thanks. I forgot to update here, my bad... I was able to get a rooted update, and now on 2.2.1 (FRG83D). My phone is working hella better now.
