My rooted Droid1 phone keeps rebooting. (I've run adb and it is caused by a kernel panic) It started when I first rooted in July, but then it was only once every 2 weeks. Now it reboots itself about 5-10 times a day, primarily when attached to my Win7 PC via USB. I've tried several different ROMS from Kangerade to Lithium to LithiumNG and the reboots are still bad.

I'm thinking now that I ought to reflash the stock ROM and if it still reboots, take it back to VZW. A few questions though:

    1) Do I lose root when I flash the stock ROM back? I assume yes.

    2) Assuming it still reboots, do I need to do anything to clean-up my rooting "evidence" so I can deal with the drones at VZW?

Yes, but you might not lose the SU app.

If you're taking it back then try a stock SBF to get rid of ALL personal data on the phone.

Have you tried testing different kernels to see if your phone is really that picky over kernels? What speed settings do you run SetCPU at?

The problem with returning it will be proving the problem happens since it can take awhile...

I've actually never run SetCPU, but I have used JuiceDefender to down-clock. After my latest flash from this morning, I haven't run either.

I'm unfamiliar with that version, but I think the stock kernel that comes with it might be a low-voltage one. If you have reboot issues then I'll suggest a stock-voltage kernel for you to install and try.

UPDATE: I found the problem. It is not my phone OR my ROM. It was one specific port on my laptop that was causing the problem. I switched to a different port and now it's fine!
