Rooted and Overclocked?

Is there a way to just root your Droid and overclock it without installing a custom ROM. I was wanting to keep all the stock stuff and just root so I could overclock it. Is that possible.

Yes - Overclock Droid to 1.3Ghz | Redmond Pie

I did this last night and have mine running at 900Mhz!

The downside - the SetCPU sliders are not usable, so you can't change the clock speed willy-nilly.
