    No, the only method that can be used needs adb, which is either manual or scripted, but adb needs to be installed on a PC.

    No, adb is a program that manipulates thing as a developer would to test the phone directly... as app cannot control the phone before android fully loads up. Adb can control certain functions before the OS turns on. Turns out a few of these functions are require for the root method.

    The current ONLY root method for the droid 3 requires adb... so your stuck with it.
