I've been searching on changing icons for a while now and the only thing I come up with is the app Bettercut. If that's what I need to do then so be it, but I figured there has got to be a way to change an app icon using Root Explorer right? I am looking to change some default app icon like the Map for instance. I look in: system>app>res and then look in all the drawable folders but don't come across just the app icon image ...

    Any advice/direction? Thanks!

I don't think you can get into apk's with root explorer. I think you would need to put the apk on your computer and open it with 7zip. Then find and replace the icon in the res folder (iirc??). There was a pretty good thread on this a while back. I read, it but wasn't really interested in doing it. I did use it to go in copy some app icons that I wanted to edit (made them Gold to match the theme I use. I then used Folder Organizer to attach them to app. Folder Organizer does the same thing as Better Cut, but I like it much better. I find it easier to use.

Good luck and I hope my ramblings help!!

Excellent, thanks! I'll give folder organizer a try - it's cheaper than bettercut

Should have just spent the $1 in the first place, but I like to do things the difficult way

If you're not using Root Explorer on your rooted Android phone or tablet, you should be. It's an easy way to work with the files on your device, using a graphical interface that so many of us are used to.
