I've tried a whole load of different ROMs (BB 0.6.1, Smoked Glass 11, UD 2.5, Sapphire 2, CM 6.1.2, SS 4.96, CM 7, Pete's GPAs, Liquid Froyo and Gingerbread, PE 4 and 5) and a bunch of kernels at different speeds and voltages (P3Droid, ChevyNo1, Slayher, RZ, Prime's, Pete's) and every single one of them kills my battery. I've had to un-root and go back to stock Froyo to get decent battery life.

I take my phone off the charger at 6 AM every day, right now it's 1 PM. With any of these custom ROMs/kernels I'd be down to 40-50% with normal usage, with stock Froyo I'm at 80%. When I was using custom ROMs the phone would be beeping at me by 6 PM, last night I still had 50% battery.

In every case I've had the same apps loaded, and only use 1 widget - the BW SuperClock.

I've tried the wiping battery usage tricks, even bought a new battery but nothing helped. I'm happy with the battery life I have now but stock Froyo and slow and boring.

Are there any ROMs/kernel combinations that can match the "stock" battery life? Or am I doomed to live with stock Froyo forever?

That's based on CM 7, no? Are there improvements to increase battery life in SS?

I have been running Sourcery 2.2 on mine with a 300/900 Slayer kernel in OnDemand. I unplugged at 7 am and it's 1:20 pm and it just dropped to 70%. That's with moderate use today. Calls, texts, some light app use. I only use a couple widgets too.

Where can I get it from? I don't see a forum for it here anymore...

    {edit}
Never mind, I found it in the cvpcs forum.

I've installed Sapphire 2.0.2 this morning, I'm going to use it for a day or two and see how the battery does. Then I'll give SS5.1 a shot and see how it compares.

    Thanks for the suggestions.

How has this been going for you? Very Interested since I seem to have the same problems as well.

    Thanks, Jamie

I ran it in the beginning but 1.1 I think was the last time. Perhaps I will try the latest. All I really want is a good phone with battery life and WIFI Tether that works well. Minimal Glitches etc.

    Thanks Jamie

I used Sorcery for a day or so and it was OK. I've now got SS 5.2, using the default kernel (running at 250/800 MHz) and the battery life is close to what I was getting with stock Froyo. Yesterday after being off the charger for 15 hours I had 30% battery left with moderate use. So I'm sticking with this for the time being.

Sourcery all the way... i get 18hrs with light to moderate use.
Unplug at 7am.. dies around midnight after 2 - 3 hours of playing.

With my normal use around 6pm on my way home i will still be at 70%.

Any Glitches or odd things ( reboots no text or email etc.)? I have been running SS 4.96 for a while now but the Batt life is not that good. I just installed Peter Alfonso GPA 14 I guess I will see How that goes. I always Wipe Battery stats when I put it a new Rom and have it fully charged to eliminate that aspect.

I've had absolutely 0 problems with it. No random reboots, there was an issue with Exchange email not showing up but after adding the email app to the task killer ignore list that went away. It's screaming fast, runs cool and its the best GB ROM I've used so far.

FYI, I've been off the charger for a little over 5 hours right now and have 80% battery. I was using it pretty heavily for about an hour this morning.

Oh Yeah 1 more thing. Do themes affect battery life at all? Dark colors vs. Bright???

Not on the d1. All pixel colors use same amount of energy with the type of screen it has.
