Yes, you should be fine to just install over top as others have mentioned.
It is built into the search widget - however, if you add the 'Google Search' widget instead of the 'Search' widget, it does not have Simply Stunning ...
And redoregon already answered - but yes, starting with GB, I used Cyanogen's code as my base (NOT the rom itself, but the code used to build the rom). Previous to that my base was pure AOSP. But CM has some very nice options that I felt I could use and improve/add to.
If I do go un-themed I suspect I'll also need to run the patch again?
I believe so - I do not think I added the patch to the main download ...
Ahh, okay, that's good information to know from now on (can ya tell I'm still new to the custom ROM deal lol).
Also, one setting I cannot find for the life of me, on stock ROM, there was an option to keep the screen from turning off when charging. I liked using that since I travel a lot, and the phone is in a car dock when travelling. Where is that option at with SS?
Same place it is in the stock ROM - Settings > Applications > Development > Stay Awake.
Haha, okay, I feel dumb now. I've been searching everywhere except in that section of settings. Thank ya :icon_ banana:
Patch? What patch?
I did lock them into memory after having the problem a few times. I'm still getting used to the android platform and all the tweaks and options available in the rom. Thanks for your help and great work!

Issues with downloading via market and updates of low voltage extras
hey i am having issues after installing SS v5.2 stock everything with the market and not being able to update or download new apps with the market place i am also having issues trying to download the low voltage networkings via rom manager was wondering if anyone have a fix for this thanks
Did you wipe data/cache before installing? Any reason you didn't install SS 5.3?
Do you mean low voltage kernels from RM? If so - I just updated the RM links to point to my latest ones - also - I JUST released 5.3 and also just updated RM - you might want to install that over top of 5.2.
