Oh... LOL. It shouldn't cause a softbrick. I made it on my phone sitting on the job. The boot animation has to be manually installed, but the tones flash.

Pull the bootanimation.zip replace the one in /system/media and set the permissions rw-r-r.

Can I do a ROM backup in cwm, the recover to it or is a nandroid backup and recovery our only route?

so if I have this right I unpack the downloaded zip, pull the boot ani, repack and install then put the boot in place of the one already in media

What I think I did was use astro to find the razr zip then clicked it and opened it, copied the bootanimation zip then pasted it to /system/media folder. Then went back to root explorer and set the permissions. Maybe not the fast or easy way but it worked for a dummy like me lol.

i installed the base them then IC3, but i boot loop. what do i do??
