I woke up from my nap while camping and had a few notifications on my phone about the OTA update. I immediately downloaded it from Google, reflashed my Droid to ESE81, modified the OTA update and applied it (just as I said in this post). The end result; the official Froyo OTA update rooted and ready to go:

    Download Link

P.S. Sorry about the nap, I could have gotten this out about 4 hours earlier. I should have known I wouldn't be able to take a vacation without playing with the Droid...

Blogs, Forums, etc, feel free to post this on your site but please provide a link to my site.

    Wow, that was fast.
Is it any difference with the FRG01B that was leaked earlier?

From the build.prop the date is July 14th, so it is likely that they are the same. Although it is nice to know you are running the exact OTA files from Googles servers.

This one is rooted and wont kill root access when installed from what I gather.

Anyone tried a different kernel than what comes on this yet? Running really smooth with it overclocked to 800 on the stock kernel but I need my speed hahaha

Ok, wiped cache and loaded up, running as before with Chevy's (8/1/10) 1.25GHz Medium Voltage 7-slot kernel, Baseband C_01.43.01P, busybox and ADW launcher. SetCPU working fine. All runs clean and smooth so far.

My pet Froyo bug all along has been that the codecs for various video formats that were supported under 2.1 have always been missing in Froyo, so many previously supported movies cannot be viewed with the native system level Gallery support. This *has not been fixed*.

I don't know yet if the WiFi and audio issues have been addressed.

I suspect there are going to be severe, possibly unmanagable complaints about some aspects of this OTA.

That said, I'm glad to have this. I'll probably stay with Odexed, I like the speed and I don't like to customize the app interfaces. And, I'm using RockPlayer for movies, so I've got a work around for the Gallery snafu. I'm a happy camper.

I've always thought this would be the last OTA for the Droid. Maybe not, given the loose ends that still exist... We'll see.

I know people are saying this is the same release, but there is a large difference in size of the files. This being 65mb or so and the last FRG01b being near 75mb. This might be because of the Doedexing? I don't know but I am gonna try and see what happens. Thanks Pete!
