    does rom manager install roms and all that good stuff from within the app cause im really considering root right now but was wondering if rom manager does all that good stuff from within

    oh and i was wondering adbout set cpu do i have to have a custom kernel to overclock my droid 1

    yes rom managers makes it really easy to manage backups and flash new roms that you have installed all within the app.

    yes you do need a custom kernel to overclock the processor, but most custom roms have custom kernels anyway. You can always go find another custom kernel if your looking for a higher overclock or better battery life.

    Question 1 Yes be sure to wipe and select yes to google apps. Question 2 Yes and you will need set cpu or other like app for over clocking.

    Rom Manager allows you to download and install Roms, themes and kernels to your phone (must be rooted of course). It makes it very easy to change between different kernels because you don't have to name them update.zip. Free version gives you access to CyanogenMod, Bugless Beast, Stock images and cvpcs's. Paid version gives you access to additional dev's ROMs and kernels. That is only in getting them via the app over-the-air. You can still manually download ROM's, kernels, etc...to your SD Card and then use Rom Manager to install (Install Rom from SD card option) with the free version.
