I have Verizon knocking at my door to get the update to 2.2. My phone shows it as an available and Verizon has emailed me twice.

    1. I used SP Recovery to root to the ESE81 ROM and then ROM Mamager to install Bugless Beast. I believe if I accept the phone update from Verizon then Sp Recovery will not allow it....true?

    2. Can I use ROM Manager to go to "Verizon Droid 2.0.1 Stock" the get the Verizon update.
    3. will I also have to get the 2.1 Update befoe Verizon will update me to 2.2?
    4. Then use ROM maanger to go to "Verizon Droid 2.2 FRG01B" rooted?

    5. Or can I use ROM maanger to go to "Verizon Droid 2.2 FRG01B"
    and just ignore Verizon.

    My Present config is below.

I thin you can use rom manager to go to Froyo, but it will be a custom rom.
The latest Verizon update is Android 2.2 FRG22B, so until you are running that rom, you will get system update notifications from Verizon.

Being that you are rooted, if you install the update it will not go through. I think the new update is better than BB 1.1, but that is just my opinion.

If you are rooted you can install any ROM you want. It doesn't matter what version you are on currently.....you are wiping out what you have (wipe data/cache) and installing the new one. They are all complete stand alone pieces and do not "add" to what you currently have in anyway.

The stock one (but rooted) in Rom Manager last I looked was FRG01B and you will still get update notices to FRG22D. There are FRG22D (rooted) stock roms floating around as well as plenty of custom FRG22D based roms.

    1. true
    2. you can, but I wouldn't if I were you.
    3. I believe you will only see the update now for FRG22D
    4. Nope. You'll have to use this: http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-labs/74028-root-droid-1-regardless-os-version.html
    5. That I don't know. But I do know this: I would advise you not to go to stock FRG22D, simply because you will only end up wanting to root again. FRG22D by itself is an outstanding update but I feel the loss of apps that you would lose from being rooted outweigh the benefits of FRG22D on it's own.

I'm currently running FRG22D on my D1 but it's not active. Prior to that I ran FRG01B rooted (no custom rom) and I just loved it. Going back to stock won't make you happy trust me on this.

My only reason for going to FRG22D was so I could get Verizon off my back and then do another rooted ROM. I do not want FRG22D because of the issue with WiFi charges.

It doesn't really work that way. If you go to the OTA stock FRG22D you won't get notifications anymore. However...as soon as you install something else that doesn't have the FRG22D fingerprint you will start getting notifications again.

So you don't need to "get" an update from Verizon, you just need to install a ROM (or hack) that gives you the same fingerprint that FRG22D has.

You could....but since it's older than FRG22D you would get pestered to update/upgrade to FRG22D still...

You can download this to your phone
Droid - FRG22D, rooted, deodexed, busyboxed **Rooted Users

and then use ROM Manager, Install from SD Card and have a stock (but rooted, etc..) FRG22D and no longer get notifications to update/upgrade.

Or any other FRG22D based rom or Source built rom that uses the FRG22D fingerprint.

    job done...
    FRG22D up and running..
Titanium Backup retsored all apps and setup data

    easy.
Now to pick a ROM to run.
I assume BB 1.1 is not 2.2 compatible?

Hwo do yo get to clockworkmod rom restore?
I know "X" and power switch calls SP Recovery. But that back will not be correct.

    Never mind...
I reran update.zip from SP Recovery and just started over.

No to find a working over clock kernel.

Glad you figured it out. I would download a few kernels and try them out. That way if you get stuck on the "M" screen, you can just flash the kernel.

Also start out with 1000mhz top and see how your phone will react. My 1st Droid i was able to go up to 1200mhz, but my replacement I could not go beyond 1000mhz kernel.

I used this path and it went great. I had no issues. with the swap to the P3Droid FRG22D ROM.

No they are not. Those are 2.1 Kernels not 2.2 Kernels.

I don't think any are that are in the free Rom Manager, just the Premium version.

There are a few you can easily find on this site as well as others that will work. JDLFG, P3Droid, ChevyNo1.....

Just download to your phone and do the "Install Rom from SD Card" method again....but don't WIPE! Just install the Kernel.
