    Hello developers and masters...

Has anyone ever put together a comparison list of all the different custom ROMs? If so, could someone send me a link or tell me where to find it.

What I mean is: A list of each ROM, and some of its points of differential, for example ...is it built on Froyo or GB, uses a custom launcher, Launcher Pro or ADW Launcher, is supported, etc...

This would be incredibly handy in determining which ROMs would be best for a newbie to try..would save having to flash them individually to test out...all that flashing makes me nervous :)

    Mucho thanks

I don't think anyones ever put together a chart like that but if you write down some of the main points you would want i'm sure i could find you a rom suitable or atleast recommend a few

As for rom flashing making you nervous if you do a nandroid backup before you flash anything then you have nothing to worry about

I found this on another Droid forum that helped me quite a bit, some of the ROMS are not listed on this forums though so *shrug*.

From reading here and other android forums, my conclusion is it depends on your DrOID. One person will tell you ROM x is the absolute best thing ever created and the very next post will say ROM x turned my phone into a brick.
My suggestion is try them. It is going to take some time but once you get used to the flashing process (don't be scared...) it's not bad at all.

    Thanks

    Thanks for the responses gang!

Thinking about starting something myself...let you know how it goes.

True enough, everybody has their own experiences and each phone seems to react differently, I was looking more for "specs" rather than reviews...this one is based on 2.2 froyo, this one on 2.3 gingerbread. This one uses ADW Launcher, this one Launcher Pro, etc etc. You don't always get that info up front and I would find it helpful, since like most, I have preferences.

To gflam, thanks...I understand what you're saying...but I've had three different nandroid backups go bad and be unusable, all for different reasons. each time I either had to start from scratch or restore a MUCH older backup...losing important data. Needless to say, my trust in that process stands at "hopefully optimistic it will work"

Thanks again. This forum is SO MUCH better than others.

I am now considering a ROM after rooting my phone earlier today. The most important considerations, in order of importance:

1.) Move all apps (except protected/system apps) to SD
2.) Possible performance enhancing tools (overclocking)
3.) Tethering (already have EasyTether from pre-root)
4.) Glamour (fancy styles and such)

Number 1 is my primary consideration. Any recommendations?

Or how fast he's asked to remove it.

Anyways, I will start this list with the ones I've run.

GimpSquad 1.0 Froyo 2.2.2 (stock launcher) Stock AOSP no options.
GimpSource 3.1 Froyo 2.2.1 (stock launcher) AOSP with Samsung S notification bar and other goodies (based off cvps)
MetiCkMod 0.8 Froyo 2.2.1 (stock launcher) trimmed OTA no adds

I'll add Sourcery to the list. FRG83G 2.2.2 with built in theme changer, kernel changer for over/under clocking, and a built in bootanimation changer.

Fast, stable and perfect if you are looking for a stable daily driver.

Muggy he is looking for Droid not X roms.
I tried Sourcery, didn't like it, seemed to waste a lot more battery life than Ultimate. Previously I had Sapphire. Great rom, not that many features though, but it had the best battery life. I am using Ultimate Droid on 2.5 Froyo, its... ok. The best option, but it isn't exactly perfect. Its built on Cyanogen, and Sourcery is built on Ultimate. So I like the features of those phones, but I don't like it enough to consider it perfect. Kernels cause better battery life and whatnot more than any other feature, I used P3droid's stuff before, now I am trying Prime's kernels. http://www.droidforums.net/forum/cyanogenmod/127262-kernel-deprimed_test-break-if-you-can.html
    Its nice.

Liberty ROM is the best in my opinion. Liberty 2.0.1 on froyo, also are in the works for Liberty Gingerbread.

Well, that turned out well. I just ruined my phone doing that stupid crap. Despite spending hours backing everything up and following all the meticulous (and maddening) instructions, the ROM did not install but everything I had on my phone is erased and cannot be restored, despite all my attempts using ROM Manager/ClockworkMod Recovery.

Not good. I didn't have much success with ROM manager. I use bootstrapper and backup manually.

Yes but it did not restore the backup; it only gave '21' error. Thank God I had previously made a full backup with Titanium that seemed to restore my apps and other data, though all my screens are still wiped.

Not that I have been able to find. Although, if y'all hear anything about this, we need an epic OG Droid post!
