FROM dew912 over @ [ROM]--CHARITY--Smoked Glass Themed v9.0 Froyo 2.2.1 Built From Source! BRAND SPANKIN' NEW - Android Forums

We'll call this version 9.2 - It's based on Froyo 2.2.1, built from source!

    Download link: sg92-update.zip

    UPDATE.ZIP File. See instructions below.

    v9 - Changelog from 8.x
Froyo 2.2.1 built from AOSP Source. Newest release of froyo straight from Google!
    Improved performance and battery life
Added Silent option to the volume rocker
Added Reboot option to the power menu
FLAC support system-wide. Works in Music Player
    Newest version of Car Home
Fixed black on black text in call log details
    Slightly brighter minimum brightness

Installation file is in update.zip format; compatible with both SPRecovery & Clockworkmod. Installation is also much simpler now.

I've pretty much ported the smoked glass theme we all have come to know and love and packaged it into a pretty awesome Froyo 2.2.1 Based ROM. This is an update to my original posting found here: [ROM]--CHARITY--Smoked Glass Themed ROM FRG22D v8.0 BUILT FROM SOURCE! HOT ! !

I don't think asking for personal donations is in line with the ideas behind open source software. Thus, I have decided to collect donation money for charity.

    Please Donate, read below...

ALL (100%) of the money will go to NATIONAL PARK FOUNDATION: Oil Disaster Recovery. I will be fully transparent in this process and will show any donors proof of the organization's receipt. I know this is a new idea, I hope it catches on. Please check out the organization at:

Wired/Wireless Tether Tested & Working (no longer included)
I highly recommend using Launcher Pro, It's free in the market. Much smoother than the stock Launcher....

    Download link: sg92-update.zip

    Instructions...

    Backing up...
Google saves your contacts, programs, settings, and bookmarks on the cloud.
You can double-back up program with Titanium backup, which will also backup application settings
You can back up text messages with a market app called "SMS Backup & Restore".

File is in the UPDATE.ZIP format.

    Clockworkmod
Place the file you downloaded anywhere on the SD Card. Easiest place would be the root directory.
Chose "Install zip from sdcard" from the main menu
    Select "Chose zip from sdcard"
Browse to the file (SG9-update.zip) and select it. Confirm the install, let it do it's magic.
    Reboot.

    SPRecovery
Rename the file you downloaded to update.zip and place it in the root of the SD Card.
Select Install from the main menu
    Select Allow update.zip Installation
    Select Install /sdcard/update.zip (deprecated)
    Reboot.

If you are running the most recent version of my ROM, you may not need to wipe data/cache (factory reset). It's never a bad idea though. If you bootloop, that is the reason.

I've been using the last version of this Rom for the past two weeks....let me say it's one of the best I've ever tried, rock solid, and battery life is incredibile with the kernel it comes with, I've scored almost 1400 in the Quadrant with it as is. It's not a fancy Rom like UD with all the crazy settings but if you want stability and great battery life this is the Rom you want!!

This Rom is really extremely overlooked...it works so good, it's really a shame it's not held up there with the most popular ones out there. It's kind of a "best kept secret" in a way. I've been using the earlier incarnations of it for a while now. Every version I have tried have been spot on and sweet with seriously the most amazing battery life I've ever had. Hopefully now that it's being posted on this forum it will start to get more followers.

For youtube app, first go into the system/app folder with root explorer > make the directory sysrw, go to the app and mark it a .bak file.

make your system sysro again, reboot ....

go into the market and install the youtube app. Go back into root explorer > system/app > sysrw > and delete your youtube.apk.bak.

I rebooted again, but i dont think its necessary.

This fix was posted in a koush/cyanogen topic i believe, but not exactly remembering yesterday too well.

I can't use that new YouTube app either. But then I realized the normal one works just fine for me. Battery life and stability are worth more than any single media app.

I did it a different way. I deleted YouTube, rebooted and then installed from the market. Worked for me.

I'm reading things about good battery life. It definitely looks worthy of a flash.

Mario, I think this is V 9.0...I downloaded this Rom a few weeks ago on MDW and the link said Sg91 update. Now in here it says Sg92. I wonder why? I think it is just the update to 8.0 though.
