What is the function on the right hand side 3 points?

this is your menu button. It can move depending on the app you're using. It's in the manual that came with your phone

He may be talking about the docking connection dots on the right side.

If you are, then they are a way to charge your device and have it in a landscape docking unit. Should be released soon.
