I'm having a problem restoring a ROM. The only other thread I found on this was a different problem than what I'm having. But I'm trying to restore a ROM and it's just sitting there saying "Unpacking data image..." and that's all it's been doing for a while now. Any ideas on what I can do? I hope this doesn't mean that my phone is unusable.

Are you sure that the backup was not corrupt?

Did you wipe the data and cace before the restore/

Is you battery charged to at least 70%

I'd say at least around 15 minutes. I'm not sure if it was or not. I tried more than one. I tried the stock ROM and the custom ROM that I had before trying to install that one. I wiped the cache/data and I don't remember how charged my phone was but now it's dead. I can't even boot into recovery. I could last night but I guess since it died over night it won't let me. When I plug it into the wall it starts up but it just sits at the Motorola logo and I can't make it boot into recovery that way either. And when I plug it into the computer it wont even turn on for some reason.

If yourphone died over night then its not going to just turn on. You're going to have to let it sit and charge for a bit. It may be that like has been stated your backup is corrrupt in which case its pretty much unusable. When your phone charges for a bit see if you can flash a different zip file of some sort.

I had it on the charger all night. But it just turns the phone on and when I woke up the phone was still on the M logo and was pretty hot. I don't think it will even charge unless it boots up. Ah, wait. It just turned on so maybe it's charging some

True, but a lot of people tend to reply once and then never reply again

If it died in the middle of flashing then you probably lost everything, b/c there won't be an O.S. on the phone to tell it what to do. Can you get to the bootloader?

Well I just quit and it died while it was stock on the M logo. And no, I can't get to the bootloader. It won't turn on unless it's plugged into the wall and it won't let me boot into anything I guess because it turns on by itself when you plug it in and I can't get it to do anything other than that. I think I'm just going to use a different battery and see if it lets me boot into recovery where I'll mount it to the computer from there and put the ROM I had that worked with my phone back on the SD card and install it and see if that works

You indicated that you left the phone charge all night and you are still at the M logo. Pull the battery and let it out for at least a minute so that the capacitors fully discharge. Replace the battery and try to boot into recovery and try to restore the backup
